I had the day off so I worked on the new painting, first doing a little excavation of the surface, and then cleaning some of the residual paper off with water and a brush. Removing the paper residue is like unwrapping a present because only when it's gone can I really see the colors that are at play beneath.

Here's how it looks for the moment, but keep in mind that this piece is going to change a lot before I'm finished. I've really only begun to work on it, but I do like where it's going:

In other news I got Rommel back from W yesterday and he's barking like a chihuahua and shrieking like a golden conure now. Good times.
