I've asked my roommates if I can stay here until January 15th (so I'll have some buffer time while I get my new place figured out) and they wholeheartedly agreed that I should stay. Yay!

Today was a long day for me, given that I had my first German class after work this evening, and I didn't get home until 9:30pm. I was hungry and didn't know what I was going to do for dinner, but that was immediately solved the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was in the kitchen – Paulo, Marco, Gaia, Alex and her boyfriend (I forget his name) – and they all ushered me in and told me that I needed to have dinner with them. It was great! Sausage, sauerkraut and polenta, with cake that Alex had made for desert. I did the dishes because I was so grateful, and we all hung out for a long time lingering over our beers. My lawyer emailed me yesterday to tell me that I will be able to pick up my work visa some time this week, and she is going to email me when she knows more. Everything is coming together, slowly but surely.
