Voices from the echo chamber

Every weekend, for many, many months, I've found that almost the entirety of my Saturday is devoted to 'recovery' from the work week. I lay in bed until noon and then barely have enough energy to fix myself breakfast and do much more than watch TV or YouTube videos. It's like all of my Chi is sucked out of me during the work week, and by the time the weekend comes I'm completely empty. No more gas in the tank. By Sunday the color begins to trickle back into my world, but by the time I feel anywhere close to my old creative, energetic self, the day is over and it's time to get back to work.

Two weeks ago I spilled a full mug of tea into my laptop keyboard. Nothing could be done to save it computer – my beautiful 1.5 year old 17" screen Macbook Pro. Luckily, I had purchased insurance for it that covered 'clumsy fingers' and only need to pay €500 for a new one. Everything takes longer here in Berlin though, so I have no idea when I'll be able to actually GET my new replacement laptop. They need to transfer the data from the old one onto the new one, so I guess that's holding everything up. I'm sure there's plenty of paperwork, signatures, and stamps, too.

My brother and I have been emailing and skyping a lot lately (I have an iPad, so not all communication is lost). He used to take a lot of medication for fibromyalgia, and by a lot of medication I mean more medication than I was aware a human being could take and still remain alive. But he has recently tapered off almost all of what he was taking. He was able to do this through a combination of meditation and practicing martial arts – Kung Fu, specifically. He's lost all the weight the drugs made him gain, and he says he's in the best shape he's ever been in.

Talking to him has made me want to try Kung Fu, too, and there just happens to be a Kung Fu school a few blocks from where I live. I'm going to email them and make arrangements for the free trial class they advertise on their homepage. Just wait and see – my Kung Fu will be strong.
